April 14, 2003 - Dude, Where's my Democracy?

Dude!

I created the sign to the right for the April 12th Peace March in San Francisco. Unfortunately, it wasn't carried by the person I made it for due to the torrential rain. It's funny (really) if you saw the beyond forgettable movie with the similar name.

While on the topic of annoying idiocy, at several marches/rallies I have been yelled at by people who may have been assuming too much about me.

You're all as bad as Bush

The first incident occurred way back on March 20th, when a rather annoyed fellow claimed that I was "as bad as Bush" He may have been confusing me with some other Bush.

The second incident occurred at a Pro-War Rally in San Francisco where someone mistook me for being a photographer with "the media" and started lecturing me about how the media always finds the most violent thing to focus on.

By this point I had been yelled at by the Right and Center. The Left was next:

"Hey look it's the media" one of the marchers said quite loudly while looking directly at me "Fucking Media, you can just go fuck off!" He continued. Well, there you have it. I guess I should expect some berating from Up or Down.

At the same time this particular malcontent was working hard at giving the Left a bad name other marchers were breaking out in song.

Hate Mail

It seems to be a sign of success today when you start receiving hate mail. I only have a few a week so I suppose I am only somewhat successful. Most of it seems to have been written by illiterate teenage in-the-closet boys, and I won't bore you with it, however, here is a poetic gem from "protesters baby":

Peace Hypocrites smashing windows.
Peace Hypocrites obstructing traffic.
Peace Hypocrites vandalizing with graffiti.
Peace Hypocrites attacking politicians with paint.
Peace Hypocrites calling for "damage or disruption."
Peace Hypocrites fighting with police we praised on 9/11.
Peace.
Hypocrites.
Peace Hypocrites watching Iraqis cheer their liberators.

Too bad I missed the part were protesters attacked politicians with paint. Sounds fun. I guess they were too busy "vandalizing with graffiti."
